If you are looking for a fun plinking pistol, consider this. It has become my favorite pistol to shoot. I have a bunch of different .22 caliber pistols I shoot frequently. The Taurus TX 22 is now the first one I take out of my safe when I head to the range. I have other more expensive and nicer looking pistols – the TX just looks kind of clunky to me. But this one just works. And the 16+1 capacity makes it an outstanding choice for plinking.

just bought a taurus tx22 new, and this is my initial review. the tx22 looks nice, feels great, and gives you the impression this is a well engineered .22 handgun. i went to the range and about 2/3 of the 200 rounds i fired went flawlessly. the gun was accurate, recoil was low, and handling is very easy. however, 2 issues led to problems, the first is fully loaded mags, and the second was shell extraction. the mags hold 16 rounds but the gun has trouble loading/cycling when you have more than 12 in the mag, so i recommend only loading 10-12 until you “break in” the gun. i was disappointed to have many shells stuck in the barrel and had to use a rod to eject. this was using cci 40grain high velocity .22lr so i think its just inherent to the tx22. i field stripped the gun, provided additional lubricant, loaded only 10 rounds per mag, and then had far less problems firing the gun. overall im still satisfied with the gun and would recommend it, however im slighly disappointed currently at the performance. i plan to give it extra lubricant and stay at 10 rounds/mag for the next shootings. GOOD: handles great, decent price, great features, well designed. BAD: cannot utilize the full 16 round magazines, still had extraction issues inherent with .22/rimfire ammo. would give 3.5 stars but im being optimistic that it will have less problems after breaking in and extra lube.
